(New York, NY) — As many as a million-and-a-half unemployed workers will reportedly be coming to an end of their jobless benefits by the end of the year. “The New York Times” cites the National Employment Law Project in reporting half a million people will have used up their payments by the end of September. A National Employment Law Project policy director says without an extension, quote, “a huge wave of workers will start running out of their critical extended benefits.” As a result, there is talk on Capitol Hill of extending jobless benefits.
