Nothing is new about gun violence in major cities, it has become an acceptable norm in America for a number of reasons. We have been crying far too many times over the killing of innocent people in this country and yet we can’t seem to navigate our way to a solution. The tired (yes tired) and true sentiment is to move away and let it be someone else’s problem.

Shocking as it was in 1983 when United States Postal  (USPS) workers shot and killed managers, fellow workers, and members of the police or general public in acts of mass murder, ”going postal“ eventually became fodder for comedians and we were OK with this. What did we miss along the way?

The Navy Yard shooting, the killing of the young man in Charlotte trying to get help after a crash will eventually be replaced with another horrific headline and we will continue to go about our day. More laws, fewer guns…I wish I had a solution. Best I can do today is be empathetic for the victims and those affected by this tragedy.
