(Washington, DC) – Couples who have planned to exchange vows on the National Mall may have to make other plans. According to the “Washington Post,” two dozen weddings are scheduled for this month on the mall, nine of them this week. National Park Service spokeswoman Carol Johnson says the couples have permits but because of the shutdown, the nuptials have been indefinitely postponed. She says the couples can reschedule when the government is running again. Weddings are held at the Jefferson Memorial and other memorials and sites along the mall.
