Don Lemon Ferguson

CNN devoted significant time recently to profiling the St. Louis police officer who shoved their host Don Lemon on camera. It appears that, after the incident with Lemon, someone did some digging into the officer’s past and uncovered video of an hour-long speech he delivered, one in which managed to rail against blacks, the LGBT community, President Obama and domestic violence victims.

The officer, Dan Page, has since been relieved of his duty.

“It’s wide-ranging inflammatory remarks about a lot of people, about women, about gay people,” Lemon reported. “He talks about the president of the United States. He speaks out against affirmative action, women in the military and on and on.”

“What do you say after that?” Lemon said after airing a clips of Page’s speech on CNN. “There’s much more of that, at least an hour’s worth of him ranting about different people, different situations.”

It’s curious though that Page’s comments, and the potential impact on his policing, would come for the fore only after he had a run-in with a CNN journalist. Do y’all think mainstream media is only interested in investigating the police when their own are at risk? Let us know in the comments.
