In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, The Outlet talked to Madeline Poole-Long Founder & CEO of (SOSI) Supporting Our Sisters International, Inc.

Supporting Our Sisters International, Inc., a breast health organization supporting women of color and women in under-resourced areas with a message of health, hope, healing, and quality care. Madeline discussed her organization, breast cancer statistics for black women, SOSI’s partnership with Kaiser Permanente, and Bosom Buddy program. She voiced moving from awareness to action to combat breast cancer.

Curtis Smith, CEO & Founder of Xotics and Celebrity Barber & Groomer is Industry leading Barber/Entrepreneur who has served as a personal groomer to mogul “Sean Diddy” Combs and Usher Raymond for over 20 years. He also served as a personal groomer for Maxwell, Pras of The Fugees, and many more. He is also the creator of “Hair Battle Tour”, “Xotics Products”, “Cut Chemist BW”, and “Master Barber Inc”. Curtis discussed his own battle with cancer, the importance of eating healthy both as preventive and combative measures.

We discussed how SOSI, Xotics Products and MTB Hair Studio in Suitland MD (owned by Celebrity Barber, Munchy The Barber) teamed up to take action by having the event Scaring the Fright out of Cancer on Monday, October 29th. The event gave free haircuts to breast cancer survivors. This is a first of many more events like this.
