(Washington, DC – December 23, 2019)– Kashon Powell, Vice President of Programming for Radio One taps, veteran media personality, Madelyne Woods to host the all-new morning show on WOL-AM beginning Monday, January 6, 2020.

Madelyne Woods will take over the morning drive time slot that was vacated by Tom Joyner when he retired after 25 years of his syndicated show.

As one of the most personable journalists, Madelyne has become one of the most talked-about media personalities in black pop culture. Her broadcast career has provided her the opportunity to interview countless politicos, artists, actors, musicians, and celebrities, including the likes of Jamie Foxx, Mary J Blige, Maxine Waters, Martha Stewart, Mike Tyson, and Suge Knight.  Her interviews and reports have appeared on TV and radio stations around the nation, such as ABC, NBC, BET, Fox Entertainment and The Tom Joyner Morning Show.

Well known for her celebrity exclusives and live reports, perhaps what continues to keep Madelyne top of mind is the love the late Grammy-winning rapper Phife Dawg showed her with his immortalizing lyric “hun you got the goods, like Madelyne Woods.”  In addition to her work, Madelyne devotes time to many charitable organizations. She has a particular interest in supporting causes that provide vital services to people living with dementia, stroke, and breast cancer. A successful wife, mother, and Madelyne is a native of Washington, DC where she currently resides.

“I’m very excited to get back to talk radio.” Madelyne says.  “To have the opportunity to do it on WOL, the station where Ms. Cathy Hughes blazed a trail for black women and urban radio as a whole, is a dream come true. I want the show to be quick, smart, and witty.  I want the DMV to wake up, feel good, and talk. We don’t talk to each other enough anymore, and it’s important that we focus on what’s real about ourselves and our community. We’re going to laugh, love and learn together, and be unapologetically black and proud with it.”

“Madelyne is an iconic personality with a career that spans over two decades and having her on a legendary station such as WOL is a perfect match.” says Kashon Powell, Vice President of Programming for Radio One.

Ron Thompson, Program Director of WOL-AM added, “We’re excited about the Morning Goods with Madelyne Woods. We’re live, local and all about DC.”
