(Washington, DC) — This time, you’re getting plenty of early notice. Metro has announced a number of station closures for the Columbus Day Weekend, which is a little over a month away. Starting on the night of Friday, October 9th, the Waterfront-SEU and Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter Metrorail stations will be closed and the Green and Yellow Lines will be closed at the L’Enfant Plaza station. There will be no Green or Yellow line service at those stations through the following Monday, October 12th. There will also be no Yellow Line service that weekend inside the District. Yellow line service will be available only between the Huntington and Pentagon Metrorail stations. The closures are necessary so that crews can replace a series of rail switches. Metro also says that over the next several weeks, there will be delays on the Green and Yellow lines during late-night service, as crews prepare for the job.
