New Restaurant Thirteen Holds Soft Opening In Houston

Former NFL player turned award-winning chef Tobias Dorzon was shot in an attempted robbery Tuesday night in Hyattsville, Maryland. Hyattsville Police confirmed two people, a man and a woman, were injured but did not release their names or conditions.

Prince George’s County Council Member Wanika Fisher identified Dorzon as one of the victims and expressed heartbreak over the incident, calling gun violence “unacceptable.” Dorzon, a celebrated chef and owner of the popular Huncho House, is known for his community impact—employing local students, supporting diversity in his kitchens, and championing opportunities for Black and Brown chefs.

Just six months ago, he was named Chef of the Year by the Restaurant Association of Maryland, the first from Prince George’s County to win the honor. Fisher, advocating for action on gun violence, highlighted the challenges local governments face due to state-level gun law control and emphasized the need for a multi-level approach to address illegal guns.
