Nelson Mandela ushered in his 91st birthday on Saturday with a star-studded celebration. Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin were on hand.

(New York, NY) — Some of music’s biggest names participated in a celebratory concert event Saturday honoring the 91st birthday of South African icon Nelson Mandela. Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys, Queen Latifah, Cyndi Lauper, Lil’ Kim and Wyclef Jean were among the artists who performed at the all-star Mandela Day concert celebration at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. France’s First Lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics and Hollywood stars Susan Sarandon, Forest Whitaker and Sharon Stone also participated.

The concert capped off a week’s worth of activities in honor of the former South African leader. Last Wednesday, former President Bill Clinton hosted a fundraiser dinner with Mr. Mandela’s wife Graca Machel at New York’s Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall. Proceeds from the concert and fundraiser event will benefit Mandela’s 46664 campaign which aims to support areas hardest-hit by the HIV/AIDS epidemic and other crisis.
