(Washington, DC)  -Residents throughout DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia are getting ready for Hurricane Irene.-  On Kent Island, boat owners are not taking any chances, pulling their boats from the water ahead of the expected storm surge.  Area residents affected by power outages from 2003’s Hurricane Isabel say they will be ready if they’re left in the dark by Irene, so they were out last night buying generators and supplies.  In Alexandria and DC, residents can pick up free sandbags beginning today, to help reduce flooding.
