Sunday March 4, 1990 Loyola Marymount basketball player Hank Gathers died of cardiac arrest during the finals of the West Coast Conference basketball tournament. The nation’s leading scorer and rebounder was a certain NBA Lottery pick but it never happened. The team then made a remarkable run in the NCAA Tournament to the Elite 8 before losing to the eventual national champion UNLV.

In what came to define the team, his hometown friend and teammate Bo Kimble shot free throws with his left hand throughout the tournament to honor him. 20 years later Kimble joins The SportsGroove with Mark Gray on NewsTalk 1450 and http://www.woldcnews.com tonight at 7:34 pm to remember and talk about the life changing moment that is now saving live through his 44 For Life Foundation
