After a 14-1 conference mark in the regular season, the Bowie State softball began its quest for a fourth straight conference championship with a 5-3 victory over Johnson C. Smith in the quarterfinals of the CIAA Tournament in Petersburg, Virginia. The Lady Bulldogs have established themselves as the premiere softball program over the last three years and can lay claim to being one of the most dominant – if not the most dominant – program in HBCU softball.

Champions in 2007, 2008, and 2009 Bowie State’s success has not come by accident. Coach Darryl Toney has developed a program that has earned them national credibility to go along with their elite status.
