Sekou Smith of NBA TV & NBA.com joins Scott Jackson & Fred Smoot (filling in for Kevin Sheehan) to discuss the NBA trade deadline and if he expects the Wizards to be active.

The NBA trade deadline is at 3:00p ET today (Thursday, February 6th), will the Wizards make any moves before then?

“It’s been kind of quiet as far as the Wizards are concerned,” Smith tells Jackson & Smoot. “This is a lost season for the Wizards obviously, I don’t think they feel the need to do anything, there’s no pressure to do anything spectacular.”

“They’re (Wizards) just trying to make sure they keep their pieces in place and prepare themselves with what should be a really transitional summer under Tommy Sheppard.”

Sekou Smith preaches patience for the Wizards under General Manager Tommy Sheppard. “Tommy is one of my favorite guys in the league, I think he’s going to do a really good job, but you have to be patient in Washington. You have to give him some time to get things lined up and get them prepared to really compete in next two seasons and become a playoff team again.”

The next big question for the Wizards is when will John Wall make his return? “I would be cautious with John Wall, you don’t want to rush the guy back from the sort of injury he’s had,” Smith said. “He’s got to be chomping at the bit, the East is wide open.”
