This year’s theme is ‘Imperialist Sanctions on Zimbabwe, Cuba and Venezuela are Acts of War: Africans Everywhere Must Fight!’ The day is observed annually in commemoration of the First Conference of Independent African States held in Accra, Ghana on April 15, 1958, where Africa Freedom Day was founded by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. The purpose of the conference was to mark the progress of the African liberation movement.
