A big maintenance project will close two heavily-used Metrorail stations this President’s Day weekend.  You won’t be able to access the Smithsonian or Federal Triangle stations on the Blue and Orange lines tonight through Tuesday morning.  Metro spokesman Steve Taub says crews will replace track switches, patch tunnel leaks, and repair escalators to comply with recommendations from the National Transportation Safety Board.  There will be no service between Metro Center and L’Enfant Plaza.  Shuttle buses will carry passengers between the stations.  Also, tonight until Monday night, trains will single track around work zones on the Red Line.
